Drivers are needed for 2 children with thalassemia (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thalassemia if you wish to know about the disease).

This is not an easy task. The 2 children (one is 11 years old, don't know the other's age) do not live in the same area, but both have to go to Rambam in Haifa for treatment (apparently blood transfusions). One lives in Qalqilia, the other in Al-Lubban (the spelling on the B'tselem Map), which is off of road 60, south of Tapuah [Zatara] junction. I requested that the child who lives in Al-Lubban meet the driver at Qalqilya with the other child, but apparently that's not possible. I am enclosing the letter that I received explaining the problem with transportation (it now costs 700 shekel), money that the families do not have. The treatments will be ongoing, and as far as I can determine, an entire day is needed for each time. The next one is on Monday, and I will drive the children. Drivers will be needed indefinitly, unless we can raise sufficient funds to pay for transportation. Both options seem tough, but without treatment the children will die. Please let me know if you are willing to drive. If we have enough people, it could mean spending one day a month or even one every 2 or 3 months--depending on how many people volunteer.

A number of Palestinian children are hospitalized at the Alin hospital in Jerusalem. Some of them were injured during IDF attacks in the Gaza strip and some arrive from the West Bank for treatment or are staying at the hospital.
The Ramadan month poses many problems for the families of these children. The relatives of the children from Gaza, who have been staying at the hospital for several months, are not authorized to leave hospital grounds. Therefore, they will not be able to have a proper meal and the end of each day's fast. Furthermore, they are not allowed to bring cooked food into the hospital for "Kashrut" reasons (religious Jewish dietary laws). Those who arrive from the West Bank are sometimes unable to return home every day because of the checkpoints.
